North of Budapest, close to the border with Slovakia, is Visegrad Castle or Citadel which is well-known. Well, it’s well known in the town of Visegrad anyway. It’s also near part of the river called the Danube Bend because there is a corner in the river. Quite a scenic corner so plenty of visitors. And there’s a national park too, with trees and things.

Historically, Visegrad had a number of high ranking visitors signing peace treaties and eating grapes over the centuries. Even as recently as 1991 when the leaders of Hungary, Poland and Czechoslovakia (as it was then) met for grape eating and drinking. Really …¬†www.visegradgroup.eu/about/history
